Carbon footprint basics

No matter what we are doing, we all leave a carbon footprint.

The total greenhouse gas contribution of a person, organization, product or service is often referred to as their carbon footprint. This means that the total amount of greenhouse gasses a corporation emit – from the raw material used in the production, to transportation and energy consumption – make up the corporation’s carbon footprint.

The purpose of calculating a carbon footprint is to gain insight into a corporation or person’s influence on global warming. Once you know your carbon footprint, it makes it easier to see which areas it makes sense to focus on, in order to reduce the footprint as much as possible.
